Faith Weavers – Faith Weavers is the Wednesday night program for our children which is lead by our Children’s Ministry Director.  Volunteers will assist in this class.

Children’s Council – The children’s council is a group of volunteers that help establish and plan goals and objectives for our children’s ministry program at RUMC.

Children’s Church - While adults are in the traditional 11am worship service, children K-2 are upstairs in children’s church.  Volunteers are needed to lead and assist on a rotating basis.

Christmas Program – Each year our children perform a Christmas program as their gift to the congregation.  Volunteers are needed to assist with costumes, props, choreography, music and more.

Vacation Bible School – Opportunities to serve are abundant here.  Teach a class, help in the kitchen, set up, break down, or shepherd a group.  VBS is RUMC’s beigest event for the children in our community.  You will not want to miss this!

Mother’s Day Out – MDO is a yearly program for children up to Pre-K on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Although there is a permanent staff, volunteers are needed when teachers are sick and for misc assistance.

Halloween Festival – Every year RUMC hosts a carnival on October 31^st as an alternative for trick-or-treating for the families of our church and community.  Volunteer to set up, break down or work a booth.

Pictorial Directory – Every few years we publish a new pictorial directory.  Help is needed with calling families and scheduling appointments, coordinating the directory and proofing the directory.

Mother’s Day and Fathers Day – Each year we celebrate Mothers and Fathers on their special day.  Volunteers are needed to coordinate the worship service presentation.

Compassion Outreach - To provide opportunities for persons to reach out with compassion to meet the identified needs and make a difference in the lives of the members of Ridglea United Methodist Church, their families, and in the Fort Worth community through service and sharing the evidence of God’s grace with others.

Community Concern/Advocacy -To educate the congregation about special needs of the community and help the church respond by providing opportunities for persons to reach out to meet the identified needs and make a difference through service to others.

Regional/Global - To provide opportunities for persons to reach out to help meet the identified needs or persons beyond the Fort Worth community and make a difference in the world.

Meals on Wheels – RUMC serves as a distribution source for Meals-On-Wheels which is a ministry that provides meals for homebound members of our community.  Volunteer opportunities are available for drivers to deliver meals that have been prepared.

West Aid- Volunteer – Volunteers are needed to donate non perishable food items, transport donations to the local west-aid facility.  West-aid also provides hands-on volunteer opportunities at their facility.

The witness ministries at RUMC give attention to developing and strengthening evangelistic efforts of sharing our personal and congregational stories of the Christian experiences, faith and service, communications to the community, the development of Lay Speaking Ministries; and other ideas that give expressions of witness for Jesus Christ

To work with the pastor and church council to make witness ministries a vital part of the congregation's total ministry

This team is involved in offering hospitality to church visitors, encouraging discipleship, and advertising church activities and programs to the surrounding community.

This ministry team encourages the congregation to share the Good News of Christ's love with those who have not yet received the message.  This is achieved through several programs.

Administrative Ministries

Lay Leader – From the professing membership of RUMC, we have a Lay Leader whose primary function is to be a representative of the entire body of the church.  More specifically, this person shall:*

· Foster an awareness of the role each member of RUMC can play in their home, workplace, community and world.

· Meet regularly with the pastor to discuss the state of the church and the various needs for ministry.

· Maintain membership on the Church Council, the Committee of Finance, the Committee on Nominations and Leadership, the SPRC and attend the Annual Conference in June every year

Committee on Stewardship and Finance Chairperson –The chairperson leads the committee to fulfill its obligations and goals set forth by the United Methodist Book of Discipline.

Primary tasks for the Committee on Stewardship and Finance include:

· Establishing written financial policies

· Providing for an annual audit of financial statements

· Oversee various ministry and administrative budgets

· Providing for an annual stewardship campaign

Staff/Parish Relations Chairperson – This volunteer serves as the chairperson to lead the committee in fulfilling their responsibilities listed below.  The chairperson is also a member of the Church Council.*

Staff/Parish Relations Committee Member – This volunteer is elected by the Charge Conference to serve for 3 consecutive years on the PPR committee and is responsible for contributing to the committee fulfilling its responsibilities listed below.*

Specific tasks for the Staff/Parish Relations include:

· explaining the nature and function of ministry to the staff and the congregation

· conferring with the congregation and the staff/pastor about ministry direction

· assessing the ministry of the congregation and the staff/pastor at least annually

· conferring and consulting with the district superintendent

· supporting lifelong learning for all staff (continuing education)

· identifying and supporting individuals from the congregation whom God seems to be calling for ordained ministry

· making recommendations regarding compensation, travel, benefits and housing to the church council

· recommending needed staff positions and develop written job descriptions and titles for associate pastors and staff

Board of Trustees Committee Member – This volunteer is elected by the Charge Conference to serve for 3 consecutive years on the Board of Trustees committee and is responsible for contributing to the committee fulfilling its responsibilities listed below.

The trustees together have several legal and administrative functions. They are to:

· Oversee, maintain, and supervise all local church property. This would include conducting an annual inspection and inventory of all church property, including the parsonage.

· Report annually to the charge conference on the state of the church's property, equipment, investments, and resources.

· Receive and administer all gifts made to the congregation; make certain that all trust funds of the congregation are vested properly. Develop guidelines for receiving and managing wills, trusts, bequests, and other investments given to the church.

· Ensure that the articles of incorporation of the congregation are kept up-to-date, if applicable.

· Be responsible, in conjunction with the pastor, for all use of the church buildings and grounds.

· Maintain adequate insurance coverage on all church property and develop appropriate risk management policies.

· Submit to the committee on finance the annual budget requests for insurance, property maintenance and improvement, and new property purchases.

· Be accountable to charge conference and to the church council.

Committee on Nominations and Leadership Member – The purpose of this group is to identify, develop, deploy evaluate and monitor Christian spiritual leadership for the purpose of helping Christians find their place in ministry in the local church.

Major responsibilities of this committee include:

· manage current funds to ensure the growth of these monies

· promote the Foundation in an effort to educate and invite people to donate towards the growth of the Foundation

· receive requests from the Trustees as to the most productive use of the yearly interest on these accounts

· make recommendations to the Trustees and/or Church Council as to the use of yearly interest of these accounts.     

· Report to the church council concerning the current financial status of these accounts at each Church Council meeting
